Course Goal / Objective
Mediation Law aims to teach the legal framework, basic principles, rights and obligations of the parties, the role of the mediator and the ethical rules of the mediation process in order to resolve disputes without going to court, and aims to enable students to gain the ability to analyse and apply this method within the framework of national and international regulations.
Course Content
Mediation Law course deals with the legal framework, functioning and application areas of mediation, which is one of the alternative dispute resolution methods, in a comprehensive manner. Within the scope of the course, the basic principles of mediation, the rights and obligations of the parties, the stages of the mediation process and its legal consequences are examined. Compulsory and voluntary mediation, its role in commercial, labour law and consumer disputes and national and international regulations are analysed comparatively. In addition, the ethical rules in mediation, the competences of the mediator and the application practice are emphasised, and the students are provided to reinforce the theoretical knowledge with practical examples.
