Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge on how to utilize insights from first language acquisition in second language learning processes and apply these insights through practical exercises.
Course Content
This course explores the general principles of first and second language acquisition. It is structured in two parts: the first part focuses on the theories underlying first language acquisition, phonological acquisition, and the acquisition of morphemes. The second part compares first and second language acquisition, covering key concepts such as interlanguage, transfer from the first language, individual differences in language acquisition, and the role of instruction in second language learning. Topics discussed in class will be reinforced with practical examples and applications.
