Course Goal / Objective
The course aims to provide the students with the knowledge and skills to explain the world's architectural heritage from the Prehistoric Ages to the Ancient Roman Period in line with the teachings of architectural history, to analyze the semantic link established between the art of the historical ages and the culture that constitutes it, to interpret the relations between society, culture, geography and architectural design, to explain the relationship between the element of time and the phenomenon of building construction through the changing design principles of ancient periods, to compare architectural changes between different geographies and their causes.
Course Content
Prehistoric Architecture, Mesopotamian Architecture, Egyptian Architecture, Persian Architecture, Hittite Architecture, Ancient Aegean Architecture, Ancient Greek Architecture and Etruscan Architecture.
