Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to provide students with an understanding of animal welfare concepts and their practical applications, helping them comprehend animal behavior, scientific welfare indicators, stress factors, and environmental and managerial factors affecting welfare. Additionally, students will learn about national and international regulations on animal welfare and their responsibilities as veterinarians.
Course Content
This course covers topics such as the definition, history, ethical and legal aspects of animal welfare, welfare applications in animal husbandry, transportation and slaughterhouse conditions, stress factors, and the relationship between animal behavior and welfare. Additionally, welfare standards for different animal species and their scientific evaluation methods will be discussed.
