Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to learn many physical phenomena that occur in nonlinear crystals/materials.

Course Content

Nonlinear crystals, definition, basic concepts and properties, ferroelectric, antiferroelectric crystals, statistical models, phase transitions, thermodynamic properties of nonlinear crystals, macroscopic theory of ferroelectric and antiferroelectrics, Gibbs free energy, Landau phase transition.
