Course Goal / Objective

To reveal the science of recitation and its historical development in all its aspects

Course Content

1. Definition of the science of recitation and related terms 2. The science of recitation in the time of the prophet 3. The hadith of "seven letters" and related narratives 4. The science of recitation in the period of the Companions 5.The relationship between resmü'l-mushaf and the recitations 6. Compilation of recitations 7. The health and value of the recitations, 8. Recitation classifications and saz recitations, 9. Recitation imams and narrators, 10. Recitation teaching in the Ottoman Empire, the authorities of reisü'l-kurra and sheikhü'l-kurra, the tradition of ratification in the science of recitation 11. Recitations in today's Islamic world, tariqs in the science of qiraat.
