Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to teach students the fundamental principles of ceramic tile (çini) art, enabling them to understand traditional and contemporary production techniques. Students will design and shape unique forms using prepared çini clay, decorate them with traditional motifs, and apply glazing techniques to manage the firing process. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to enhance their aesthetic and technical skills in ceramic tile production, ultimately creating their own artistic çini designs that reflect their individual perspectives.
Course Content
This course contains to teach students traditional and contemporary shaping, decorating, and firing techniques in ceramic tile (çini) art. Students will design unique forms using prepared ceramic clay, complete their first firing, and apply traditional tile motifs for decoration. This course covers the processes of shaping, decorating, and firing ceramic tiles. Students will first design and shape their ceramic forms, completing the initial bisque firing. They will then study traditional çini motifs and develop their own unique patterns. After applying and coloring their designs, glazing techniques will be introduced, followed by the final firing process. By the end of the course, students will present their completed ceramic tile works for evaluation.
Course Precondition
