Course Goal / Objective

Information about the biodiversity of plant parasites and free-living nematodes will be given and a discussion will be made about the previous literature

Course Content

Plant parasitic nematodes and free-living nematodes live together in the soil. While plant parasitic nematodes damage plants, free-living ones have positive effects on soil and plants. Diversity of nematode communities either in the plant parasitic fauna or the free-living fauna display differences in regions. For this reason, information will be given about the importance of nematodes in nature, the place of nematodes in the food chain, free-living nematodes, k and r strategies, and living organisms in this group, measures of biodiversity in nematodes, species diversity and soil relations of nematodes, nematodes as bioindicators and the biodiversity of plant parasitic and saprophytic nematodes in the world and Turkey, human and animal parasitic nematodes and nematodes in trophic groups within the scope of the course

LO04 Information about the place of nematodes in nature, life and feeding of different groups of nematodes in the ecosystem will be given.
LO05 Publications on general indices used in nematodes will be reviewed.
LO06 Commercial aspects of the use of nematodes as bioindicators.
