Course Goal / Objective

It is aimed that the student will be able to comprehend the development of the concept of aesthetics in the context of architecture, philosophy and art history in the historical process, develop his/her artistic perception, and increase his/her artistic and cultural sensitivity by approaching a work of art in terms of material, function, content, etc.

Course Content

Basic concepts: Aesthetics, beauty, art and architecture. Aesthetic science and problem areas, aesthetic doctrines, environmental aesthetics, Gestalt theory in perception, aesthetics as an evaluation criterion in architecture, volumetric aesthetics in architecture, visual balance. Perceptual aesthetics, symbolic aesthetics, formal aesthetics. Aesthetic theories from antiquity to the present.
