Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to enable teacher candidates to gain knowledge and skills in the fields of information technologies and computational thinking; problem solving concepts and approaches; algorithms and flow charts; different types of computer systems programs; database management systems; web design; internet use in education; communication and collaboration technologies; safe internet use; information ethics and copyrights; the effects of computers and the internet on children/youth, and to use information technologies effectively both in their field and in their daily lives.
Course Content
Information technologies and information processing; problem solving concepts and approaches; algorithm and flow diagrams; computer systems; basic concepts related to software and hardware; basics of operating systems; recent operating systems; file management; utility programs (third party utilities); word processing programs; spreadsheet programs; presentation programs; desktop publishing; database management system; web design; use of the internet in education; communication and cooperation technologies; safe internet use; informatics ethics and copyright law; the effects of computers and internet on children/the young.
