Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to train specialist nurses who has current expertise level of knowledge in oncology nursing field about physiological, psychological, socio-cultural changes caused by cancer; combines oncology knowledge with different disciplines to generate new knowledge; brings strategic solutions and suggestions to symptom management, oncologic emergencies, quality of life, terminal-term care areas; takes active role in care and rehabilitation processes of cancer patient and family within interdisciplinary studies and active role in preventive health care.

Course Content

This course teaches the necessary theoretical knowledge and practices (carcinogenesis, epidemiology, etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, symptom control, rehabilitation, oncologic emergencies and terminal care) for providing nursing care to individuals diagnosed with cancer and for prevention of cancer.

LO05 Takes active role in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary study, care and rehabilitation process of cancer patient and family with knowledge, skills, and problem-solving abilities.
LO06 Acts responsibly and sensitively in cancer prevention activities and takes active role in early diagnosis, screening, training and consulting activities.
