Course Goal / Objective

To give general information about the geophysical methods used in the determination of geothermal systems and to teach the geothermal fields and geothermal potentials

Course Content

The general purpose of geothermal exploration is the existence of a geothermal system that can generate energy economically. Determination of the location and geometry of a geothermal field or low temperature aquifer by geophysical methods. The areas where electrical conductivity is low can be detected by Magnetotelluric (MT) method. Electromagnetic methods (MT, TEM, CSAMT, VLF) are divided into groups as natural and artificial sources. By using these methods, possible places and energy potential of geothermal fields can be calculated. Based on these, to make a general estimate of the magnitude of the heat potential or the capacity of the entire geothermal resource and to determine the quality of heat that can be obtained therefrom

LO07 Makes an estimate of the magnitude of the heat potential or the overall capacity of the entire geothermal source.
LO08 It determines the heat quality that can be obtained from the geothermal source.
