Course Goal / Objective
The aim of the Spring semester course on "Monoprint and Screen Printing" is to teach the fundamentals of monoprint and screen printing techniques in ceramic art and to explore their creative applications. Students will learn how to create aesthetic and functional designs on ceramic surfaces using these printing methods. Throughout the course, technical skills as well as critical thinking and artistic expression abilities will be developed. Additionally, students will experience how different printing techniques can be integrated into ceramic projects and will have the opportunity to design and implement their own creative projects. The objective is to foster innovative approaches in ceramic art and enrich artistic expressions through these techniques.
Course Content
The course focuses on the foundational techniques and creative applications of monoprint and screen printing in ceramic art. Initially, the course will introduce students to the basic principles of monoprinting, exploring various surface applications and multicolor printing techniques. The curriculum will then transition to screen printing, covering its history, essential materials, and methods. Students will learn both single and multicolor screen printing processes and advanced applications such as photographic printing techniques. The latter part of the course will be dedicated to individual projects where students will integrate learned techniques into creating innovative expressions in ceramics. Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on developing critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, enabling students to enhance their artistic expression in ceramic art through the use of these printing techniques.
