Course Goal / Objective
The Research Methods course aims to impart the fundamental concepts, knowledge, and skill sets related to research methods in social sciences, starting from the epistemological foundations of scientific research. It focuses on examining the stages of research designed according to quantitative, qualitative, and mixed research methods and creating original research designs specifically for the field of communication studies.
Course Content
The course covers the research process in social sciences, differences between quantitative and qualitative research paradigms, stages of scientific research, ethical rules, research questions, theoretical foundations of research, research population and sampling, quantitative and qualitative research methods, data collection techniques and tools, analysis methods, and the importance of writing scientific research reports. It also examines the research methods and techniques used in communication sciences and new media studies and develops an original scientific research design for communication or media studies.
