Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the relations of construction materials with the environment and to teach corrosion damage in this context. This is to teach the precautions to be taken to prevent corrosion damage.

Course Content

The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the materials and properties of metal, ceramic, organic and composites and to know the relationships between the structural properties and mechanical, physical and chemical properties of these materials and to inform them about the behaviors and precautions that can be taken.

Course Precondition

Course Learning Outcomes

Order Course Learning Outcomes
LO01 Defines the mechanism of corrosion.
LO02 Selects the protection method in a system that is subject to corrosion.
LO03 Calculates the economic losses due to corrosion of building materials.
LO04 Using corrosion information, it predetermines the corrosion to be encountered in the materials and selects the appropriate method by comparing the preventive measures.
