Course Goal / Objective

Teaching the theoretical and technical principles of aeration, which is one of the basic processes in drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment

Course Content

Fundamentals of mass transfer, oxygen transfer applications, design equations, differential aeration, performance tests and design criteria, aeration of deep pools using blowers and compressors, oxygen transfer and aeration efficiency in deep tanks, superficial and mechanical aeration, slow and rapid surface aerators, superficial and mechanical aeration performance evaluations and design criteria, pure oxygen aeration, indoor and outdoor tanks, mass balance in aeration pools, oxygen transfer tests (clean water and wastewater), aeration systems in natural waters (surface water sources), operation, maintenance and control of aeration systems and equipment.
