Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach medical care techniques for protecting hand and foot health, to convey the hygiene rules in practice, and to enable students to become competent individuals in the sector by introducing the devices and products used in professional care processes.

Course Content

Introduction to Medical Hand and Foot Care, the importance of hand and foot health, general care principles. Anatomy and Physiology, Anatomical and physiological features of hand and foot structure. Hand and Foot Diseases, Fungus, calluses, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot and other common problems. Hygiene and Sterilization, Hygiene rules and sterilization methods in medical hand and foot care. Medical Pedicure and Manicure Techniques, Professional care practices, nail cutting, filing, callus cleaning and special care methods. Medical Devices and Products, Devices, creams, serums and other products used in medical care. Diabetic Foot Care, Foot health and special care techniques in individuals with diabetes. Reflexology and Massage Techniques, Hand and foot reflexology, relaxing and healing massage practices. Differences Between Aesthetic and Medical Approaches, basic differences between classical care and medical care and professional practice standards. Customer Relations and Ethical Rules, Client information, ethical rules and patient safety.
