Course Goal / Objective

To give information about the factors that cause stress in plant tissue cultures and the chemicals used to reduce or relieve stress.

Course Content

In this course; what is plant stress. Biotic (fungal and bacterial) and abiotic (drought, salinity, high and low temperature and nutrient imbalance, etc.) stress issues in in vitro cultures and the effects of abiotic stress on plants and the adaptation mechanisms developed by plants against them are described. Information about the elicitors (Polyethylene Glycol, Mannitol, Sorbitol, etc.) used in in vitro and chemicals (salicylic acid, silicon, proline, putresin, etc.) used to alleviate the effects of stress caused by them are given with examples from current research.
