Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to enable students to recognize renewable energy sources (such as wind, biomass, biogas, biodiesel, hydrogen, geothermal and wave energy) and to evaluate the economic and environmental impacts of these energy types.

Renewable energy sources, economic situation, solar energy, wind energy, biomass use, biogas, biodiesel, hydrogen energy, geothermal energy, parabolic collectors, solar cells, wave energy.

LO01 Students analyze the investment costs, operating expenses and long-term economic impacts of renewable energy systems
LO02 Students learn the working principles of solar cells, parabolic collectors and solar thermal systems and perform applied calculations.
LO03 Students analyze the structure and operating principle of wind turbines and the role of wind energy in electricity generation
LO04 Students know the processes of biogas and biodiesel production from biomass sources
LO05 Students know the production methods of hydrogen energy (electrolysis, reforming, etc.), its storage and use in different sectors.
LO06 Students will learn about geothermal energy sources, their usage areas and the environmental vulnerabilities of these systems.
LO07 Students introduce wave and ocean energy technologies and explain the contribution of these systems to sustainable energy production.
LO08 Students explain the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, biomass, biogas, hydrogen, geothermal and wave energy
