Course Goal / Objective

Marine algae cultured or collected evaluation in different areas and economic value to be gained.

Course Content

Algae groups and species utilized, morphology of algae and reproduction, chemical structures, collection and culture of algae, harvesting, products, assesstment possibilities of algae, utilization areas of algae, economic importance.

LO05 Defines Phylum Rhodophyceae(red algae), cunt the species used food and pharmacy industries.
LO06 Defines Phylum Phaeophyceae(brown algae), explain their using area.
LO07 Counts the food reserves, polysaccharides, sugars and higher alcohols, carbohydrate reserve is laminaran and defines the cellulose and alginic acid, a long-chained heteropolysaccharide in the cell and tehir usage areas.
