Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the physiological functioning of the nervous system in veterinary medicine. Topics include the functions of nerve cells, central and peripheral nervous systems, synaptic transmission, sensory and motor systems, pain mechanisms, reflexes, brain functions, and behavior control. Students will gain the ability to apply this knowledge in clinical and research settings. Additionally, concepts such as neurogenetics and neuroplasticity will be emphasized to explore adaptation mechanisms in the nervous system.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental concepts of veterinary neurophysiology, providing detailed information on the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, synaptic transmission mechanisms, sensory and motor pathways, pain and perception processes, reflex mechanisms, brain functions, neuroplasticity, neurogenetics, and electrophysiological techniques. Additionally, the course explores the physiological basis of neurological diseases in animals and how this knowledge can be applied in clinical settings.
