Course Goal / Objective
To provide students with fundamental principles of environmental chemistry, covering organic chemistry, equilibrium chemistry, biochemistry, and chemical kinetics, and to help them understand the chemical reactions occurring in environmental systems. Additionally, the course aims to develop students' ability to apply chemical approaches to environmental problems.
Course Content
Fundamental concepts of environmental chemistry, atmospheric, water, and soil chemistry, relationship of organic chemistry with environmental engineering, equilibrium chemistry and its applications in environmental processes, biochemical cycles and their impact on the environment, chemical kinetics and pollutant degradation processes, environmental reaction mechanisms, acid-base equilibria, redox reactions, and complex formation.
Course Precondition
Students are expected to have a fundamental understanding of chemistry and basic knowledge of environmental processes.
