Course Goal / Objective

To teach students the use of molecular genetic techniques in animal production, to train personnel who can use new and modern technologies in animal productionTo teach students the use of molecular genetic techniques in animal production, to train personnel who can use new and modern technologies in animal production.

Course Content

Genetic engineering and its brief history, nucleic acids, enzymes used in genetic engineering, host cell types, cloning vectors, polymerase chain reaction and its use in animal husbandry, transgenic animal production, recombinant molecules, transgenic animal applications, polymorphism methods and their importance in animal husbandry, molecular genetic applications in animal nutrition, molecular genetic applications in animal breeding.
