Course Goal / Objective

Understanding occupational safety in the garment industry from fabric to shipment

Course Content

Definition and importance of occupational health and safety. The place of occupational safety in the clothing sector. Production processes from fabric to shipment in the clothing sector. Spreading, cutting, sewing machines, sewing machines and ironing machines used in production. Risks and hazards in the clothing sector: physical risks (thermal comfort, noise, dust, vibration, lighting, etc.), chemical, biological, psychosocial and ergonomic risks. Occupational health and occupational diseases in clothing technology. Ergonomics in the clothing sector and its role in preventing work accidents. Chemicals used in the clothing sector, the effects of the chemicals used and the precautions to be taken. Fires caused by chemical processes, ironing-pressing, etc. in the production process. Precautions to be taken against fires that may occur in the production process. Personal protective equipment used in clothing enterprises. Waste and correct management of waste in clothing enterprises. Social compliance assessments in clothing enterprises and their effects on employees.
