Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to provide advanced analyses of environmental problems with public economics theories and to provide the ability to evaluate the mutual effects of environmental externalities, natural resource management and climate change on public finance in a critical and analytical framework. It also aims to provide students with the competence to integrate public economics approaches with theoretical models and advanced policy analyses in solving environmental problems.
Course Content
The course covers advanced analyses of environmental problems with theories of public economics. The effects of environmental externalities on public finance within the framework of Pigou and Coase approaches are analysed. Evaluates the effectiveness of public economic instruments in combating environmental problems. Discusses the reflections of environmental policies on public economy. Discusses the interrelationship between climate change and public economy. Evaluates the theoretical and practical approaches to the solution of environmental problems in Turkey through public economy policies. Makes a comparative analysis of global environmental problems from the perspective of public economics.
