Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to analyze the impact of the public sector on economic stability, growth, and income distribution through fiscal policy tools. Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge of fiscal policy approaches from various economic schools of thought and their roles in times of economic crisis.
Course Content
This course covers fundamental fiscal policy tools such as public expenditures, taxation, budget balance, borrowing, and fiscal discipline. It discusses the functioning of fiscal policies in light of Keynesian, monetarist, new classical, and new Keynesian approaches. Topics also include automatic stabilizers, fiscal multipliers, fiscal policy in an open economy, fiscal sustainability, and Turkey’s fiscal policy practices.
