Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the literary personalities of the important poets and writers of the 16th century Old Turkish Literature, their works and the characteristics of the period, based on sample texts. To gain the ability to understand and evaluate the texts of the mentioned period.

Course Content

Overview of 16th Century Divan Literature, 16th Century Çağatay, Azerbaijani and Ottoman Literature, sample text analysis, 16th century sultan poets, 16th century women divan poets and examples from their poems, 16th century masnavis topics are covered.
