Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental concepts and principles of Geographic Information Systems (GIS); introduce geographic data types, data structures, and database management; and provide knowledge about spatial analysis techniques and basic applications in GIS software.

Course Content

Definition and components of Geographic Information Systems; data types; vector and raster data structures; data collection methods; database management; map projections and coordinate systems; concepts of spatial analysis; basic applications in GIS software.
