Course Goal / Objective

The main objective is to teach students about alternative fuel vehicles, biofuels, biodiesel, natural gas and LPG vehicles and engine construction, use of alternative energy sources, types of renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal, wave, biomass, hydrogen, hydraulic etc.), economic status, use by countries, comparison of energy types and their applications.

Introduction to biofuels, Biofuel raw materials, Biological varieties, Biofuel safety, Economic and environmental effects, Review of fossil-based fuels, Current methods of producing biofuels from waste, Thermochemical methods for biological and biofuel production, Biodiesel and other fuels as biofuels, Biofuel production in the world and Türkiye, Properties of oil and natural gas, Properties of compressed natural gas, Concept of non-renewable and renewable energy resources, efficiency and economy, Global warming, Climate change, Fossil fuels, Nuclear energy, Wind energy, Hydroelectric energy, Tidal and wave energies, Hydrogen energy and solar energy applications, Fuel cells and basic properties, Definition and purpose of facility planning, Facility location selection, factors affecting the location selection decision, Establishment location determination methods, Basic steps in facility layout
