Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the structure, classification, biosynthesis, metabolism, and biological functions of carbohydrates. It also explains the biochemical basis of carbohydrate-related metabolic disorders.

Course Content

Monosaccharides, disaccharides, polysaccharides, glycoconjugates, carbohydrate metabolism (glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, glycogen metabolism, pentose phosphate pathway), the role of carbohydrates in energy production, and metabolic pathways associated with diseases.
