Course Goal / Objective

403 The types of pathological cell death, which occur physiologically during development or are known as a fundamental factor in the onset of diseases and aging, their transition points, interrelationships, and molecular mechanisms should be taught in detail. This will lay the foundation for developing therapeutic approaches to different pathologies.

Course Content

Identifying the basic types of cell death and learning their key characteristics: apoptosis, necrosis, autophagy, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, cuproptosis, mitophagy, necroptosis, neptosis, entoxosis, paraptosis, methoxosis, mithoptosis, parthenoptosis, anoikis; the importance of cellular organelles in cell death mechanisms: mitochondrial Ca+2 and cell death; the importance of cell death receptors; cell death proteins; cell damage, inflammation, degradation processes, senescence, and cell death; signaling pathways leading to cell death and their commonalities; molecular mechanisms in the regulation of cell death pathways; the role of cell cycle control in cell death.
