Course Goal / Objective

To explain the scientific basis of athlete development from childhood to elite performance, to understand the relationship between training, growth, maturation and performance, and to teach long-term planning principles.

Course Content

Concept of long-term athlete development, growth and maturation processes, biological vs chronological age, sensitive periods, motor skill development, training adaptation, LTAD model, sport-specific planning, talent identification and performance monitoring.
