Course Goal / Objective

To provide students with fundamental engineering knowledge of all components used in refrigeration systems, and to enable them to recognize, design, and formulate refrigeration systems while acquiring the essential theoretical background required for their design.

Course Content

Introduction to refrigeration systems. Absorption refrigeration. Cooling by the Peltier effect. Magnetic refrigeration. Cooling using vortex tubes. Vapor-compression refrigeration cycles. Compressors. Condensers. Evaporators. Capillary tubes. Expansion valves. Ejectors. Pressure switches. Thermostats. Oil separators. Dryers. Filters. Liquid receivers. Check valves.
