Course Goal / Objective

Having knowledge about Hazardous Materials and Waste Management.

Course Content

The concept of waste, liquids, solids, hazardous materials and recycling, source control methods, soil improvement methods, wastewater management, types of solid waste according to their sources, solid waste disposal management, integrated systems, alternative methods for recovery, landfill site selection, soil preparation and improvement.

LO01 Analyzes national and international legal regulations regarding waste management and understands legal responsibilities in implementation processes.
LO02 Defines hazardous substances and wastes based on their chemical/physical properties and classifies them according to international standards (ADR, GHS).
LO03 Selects appropriate methods for the safe storage and transport of hazardous waste using the waste hierarchy (prevention, recycling, disposal).
LO04 Evaluates the risks of hazardous substances to human health and the environment, and implements emergency management and spill control protocols.
