Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge about digital printing technologies in textile and fashion design and to enable students to understand contemporary digital design processes. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to explore digital printing techniques, color management, pattern development, surface design, and fabric manipulation through creative and experimental approaches. Furthermore, the course aims to improve students’ abilities in original collection development, conceptual thinking, and interdisciplinary design production by examining the use of digital printing in fashion, art, and interior design.
Course Content
This course covers the historical development of digital printing, digital printing technologies used on textile surfaces, software and hardware utilized in printing processes, color management, and digital pattern creation methods. Throughout the course, students will engage in practices related to fabric manipulation, experimental surface applications, digital pattern development, collection creation, and print preparation processes. While examining current applications of digital printing in fashion, art, and interior design, students are expected to develop individual or group projects and transform their digital designs into final products. The course concludes with project development, presentation, critique, and evaluation processes.
