Course Goal / Objective

To teach students the basic properties of engineering materials, to make them understand the concept of machinability, and to provide the ability to choose the right material and cutting tool.

Course Content

It covers the structures, mechanical properties of metal and non-metal materials used in industry, heat treatments, material selection, properties of cutting tools, mechanics of metal cutting, and machinability criteria of different materials.
