Course Goal / Objective
To provide students with a theoretical understanding of the fundamental working principles and industrial application areas of additive manufacturing technologies (plastic and metal); and subsequently equip them with practical skills in slicing digital models, preparing the printer, and printing physical products using plastic (FDM) 3D printers.
Course Content
This course begins with a general definition, history, and comparison of additive manufacturing with conventional manufacturing methods. The working principles, material types (filaments, resins, metal powders), and industrial applications of plastic (FDM, SLA) and metal (SLM, DED, etc.) additive manufacturing methods are covered theoretically. In the second part of the curriculum, theoretical knowledge is put into practice by transferring 3D models into slicing software, setting print parameters, calibrating the plastic 3D printer, and executing hands-on printing of plastic parts in the workshop environment.
