Course Goal / Objective
To equip students with the practical skills needed to plan, design and deliver clear and effective academic presentations in seminars, meetings and conferences. The course develops the ability to structure a talk, design readable slides, use academic English confidently, manage delivery and anxiety, and respond to questions.
Course Content
The class covers the purpose and types of academic presentations, audience analysis, structuring a talk, principles of effective slide and visual design, useful academic English and signposting language, delivery skills (voice, pace, body language), managing presentation anxiety, handling questions and discussion, poster presentations, and presenting in meetings and group settings, with in-class practice and peer feedback.
