General Information
Mechanical Engineering Department started its graduate education in 1982 and doctorate education in 1984. Approximately 1000 students continue their undergraduate education and 200 students continue their graduate education in our department. All courses in our undergraduate and graduate education are given in English. As of July 2013, 24 lecturers, including 10 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 lecturers and 10 research assistants, are working in our department. In the Department of Mechanical Engineering, there are a total of six departments: Machine Theory and Dynamics, Construction and Manufacturing, Thermodynamics, Energy, Mechanics and Automotive. Each department has its own laboratories. In addition to scientific research, these laboratories provide services for both education and industry.
Length of Programme & Number of Credits
2 Year - 120 ECTS
Feature & Definition
In the Department; There are five branches of science: Energy, Construction-Manufacturing, Machine Theory and Dynamics, Mechanics, and Thermodynamics. The curriculum is prepared to give the foundations of contemporary mechanical engineering. There are seven courses in the program in the first year, two of which are compulsory and the others are elective. Thanks to these courses, students are offered a wide range of courses related to mechanical engineering. With the Master's Thesis taken in the second year, research and development studies are emphasized.

Goals
Mechanical engineering; It is a general engineering branch that works on the design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems using basic physics principles and material technologies and can offer analytical solutions to problems by modeling physical events and situations mathematically. In the Mechanical Engineering undergraduate education program, it is aimed to train engineers who can successfully take part in design, production and application studies in industry and research institutions, are prone to teamwork, have social, economic and professional ethical awareness and are sensitive to the environment.
Objectives
To have a flexible knowledge base that can adapt to new or interdisciplinary technologies, to be able to solve complex engineering problems and to follow, examine and apply innovations in mechanical engineering, by supporting the specialist knowledge gained at the undergraduate level, with original ideas and using scientific research methods.
Specific Admission Requirements
Students to this program can continue their education in their own field or in related fields after the evaluation of ALES, Undergraduate Graduation GPA, written exam and interview exam together within the framework of "C.U. Graduate Education and Training Regulations".
