General Information
The Master's Program started education in 2005. The Department of Archaeology offers a two-year master's degree program with thesis. The language of instruction of the courses given by the Department is Turkish. The master's program with thesis consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses, including a seminar course and a thesis study, provided that the total of one academic semester (fall and spring semesters) is not less than 60 ECTS credits. In addition to their educational activities, the faculty members of the program conduct excavations and surveys in various parts of our country and take part in national and international projects. Faculty members are involved in the excavations of Tatarlı Höyük (Adana) and Çakmaktepe (Şanlıurfa), Kültepe-Kaniş (Kayseri), Küllüoba (Eskişehir), İkiztepe (Samsun), Çaltılar Höyük (Muğla), Ovaören (Nevşehir), Sayburç (Şanlıurfa), İnhisar-Gedikkaya Cave, Tepebağ Höyük (Adana) and the survey of Early Prehistory and Cilician Basalt Fields. In addition, the faculty members of the program conducted the Adana and Kayseri Provinces Survey between 2002-2006, the rescue excavations at Bileç Höyük (Kayseri) in 2007, Anavarza (Adana), Kuriki Höyük (Batman) in 2016 and Tilbaşar Höyük (Gaziantep) Dam Rescue Excavations in 2018.

Since the program mainly aims to train researchers who can study all periods of the Cilician region and various subjects, related courses can also be taken on these subjects.

Goals
The region, which was known as Kizzuwatna in the second millennium BC, then Cilicia and Çukurova, has been continuously inhabited in every period of its history. For this reason, this program is in line with the universities that continue the master's program in Turkey. In addition to Anatolian archaeology, the archaeological characteristics of Syria - Palestine, Northern Mesopotamia, Cyprus and Egypt, which are in cultural unity with Çukurova, will be examined and researchers who will work mainly on the archaeology of the region will be trained.
Objectives
The aim of the Department of Archaeology is to train archaeologists who are professionally equipped, who can bring cultural assets to light with scientific methods, who have the knowledge of preserving and exhibiting artifacts with scientific methods.
Specific Admission Requirements
A bachelor's degree from the Department of Archeology is required. Foreign language score must be at least 50.

Graduates of the Master's Degree in Archaeology can work as archaeologists in universities.

Graduates of the Master's Degree in Archaeology can work as archaeologists in universities, General Directorate of Cultural Assets and Museums of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Regional Boards for the Protection of Cultural Assets, State and Private Museums and Municipalities (KUDEB). They can also be employed in other branches of the tourism sector.
