General Information
The Department of Statistics provides live and encouraging environment to students and offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science. The Bachelor's Degree Program is a 240 ECTS credits program of 4 years composed of eight semesters, each with a 30 ECTS workload. One ECTS is equal to 25.5 hours of student workload per semester. Applications involving the statistical methods and probability theories bear importance for understanding the research processes and data analyses in wide areas as health, economy, finance, common sector, engineering, biological, social and natural sciences. Faculty members of our department have wide and deep teaching and research experiences in different areas of statistics. Statistics is an interdisciplinary science that involves data collection, evaluation, interpretation and presentation in every area of life. The science of statistics has applied in wide areas of spectrum from engineering and natural sciences to social science, economy, and public relations. In global competing conditions, all private and government institutions use the tools of the statistical science in wide areas as the processes of production and development of goods, total quality managing, market searching, system security, experimental planning. Besides, the demands for the statisticians are increasing steadily in many areas primarily in insurance, banking, finance, risk management, market analysis, decision supporting systems, and health and earth quake researches. Because, we believe that one day to come, the statistical thinking would be retired feature just like overcoming illiteracy with teaching and education. The graduates of the department can work as statistical experts in banks, ministries and different offices of the government sectors, insurance companies, armed forces, software engineering firms, public relations, and statistical research centers, universities, and logistics companies, automotive and other industrial sectors. Goals
Our goal at the Department of Statistics is to train statisticians who can produce solutions against problems and use the methods of statistical with the ability of obtaining and/or arranging the statistical data.

Specific Admission Requirements
Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.
Qualification Awarded
The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of "Bachelor of Science in Statistics.

Access to Further Studies
The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.
Internship
The internship period is 30 working days. All institutions related to statistical area, especially TÜİK and banks.

ISB 251 Statistical Applications with Mathematica, ISB 321 Regression Analysis, ISB 351 Computational Statistics, ISB 365 Statistical Applications with Matlab, ISB 322 Statistical Quality Control, ISB 334 Statistical Package Programs, ISB 423 Multivariate Statistical Analysis I, ISB 42 Multivariate Statistical Analysis II courses are applied courses.
Work Placement
Statistical studies that will enable the students to transfer the knowledge they have acquired in the university into practice.

Employment Opportunities
The graduates of the department may be employed in various banks, as an undersecretary in ministries, head offices, insurance companies, military, software companies, public relation companies, universities, lojistic companies, in the sectors such as automobile and other industrial sectors as vice specialists responsible for the statistical processes
