Department of Turkish Language and Literature, at the end of 1982, Ankara University Faculty of Language, History and Geography faculty member Prof.Dr. It was established when Mine Mengi came to Çukurova University in accordance with Article 40-b of the Higher Education Law No. 2547. During its establishment, the department had two main branches of science, Turkish Language and Turkish Literature. With the increase in the number of staff, the academic structure of the department has improved, the departments have been rearranged considering the fields of study and the number of departments has reached six. The department, which started accepting students in 1986, four years after its establishment, had its first graduates in 1988.

In order to graduate from the program, it is necessary to meet the conditions of taking 120 ECTS, 21 credits and 7 courses.

Goals
The aim of Department of Turkish Language and Literature is to examine the development, linguistic and literary features of the Turkish language and literature from the earliest periods to the present and to identify the problems of the past and present and to reveal its reasons. For this purpose, it research on the main characteristics of Turkish language and literature, periods, the formation and development process of Turkish culture, cultural contacts in this process and the results of these contacts. Thus, a solid foundation is being prepared for those who want to become researchers and lecturers in the field of Turkish Language and Literature.
Objectives
The goal of this program is to enable the student to gain the ability to access, compile, evaluate and interpret of information by doing scientific research and also to do independent research, to comment scientific events with a broad and deep perspective, to analyze and to gain the ability to determine the necessary steps to achieve new syntheses.
Specific Admission Requirements
In this program, within the framework of “Ç.U. Graduate Education and Training Regulations” the students can continue their education in graduate programs in their own field or related fields as a result of the evaluation of ALES, undergraduate graduation average and interview.

At the end of the program, a master's degree is earned.

The rules of the degree earned at the end of the program are determined within the framework of the "Ç.Ü. Graduate Education and Training Regulations".
Access to Further Studies
The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to postgraduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.
