Health Physics (with Thesis)

Master's Degree - Instıtute Of Medıcal Scıences

General Information

The Medical Physics Department's Master's Program in Health Physics has a maximum duration of 2 years, consisting of 1 year of coursework and 1 year of thesis writing. The program also includes a minimum of 40 working days of internship. This program offers comprehensive training in the fields of Nuclear, Diagnostic, and Therapeutic Medical Physics and Health Physics. Graduates are trained to work in medical centers, national laboratories, universities, and the medical and nuclear technology industry as clinical physicists, conducting research. Professionally, health physicists contribute to radiation therapy for cancer patients, advanced medical imaging and diagnostic applications, or related research and learning in medical centers. They may operate radiation protection programs for nuclear industrial equipment, hospitals, or laboratories, or conduct research on the measurement of ionization radiation (dosimeters). The evaluation of results and placement of applicants are at the discretion of the Çukurova University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Health Physics. ÇÜ SAGBİLE reserves the right not to fill its quotas. Meeting the application requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Applications are evaluated by the Admissions Committee of the relevant institute. Results can be found in the application program. Successful applicants can find the necessary steps in the "Results and Registration" section.

Goals

The Medical Physics Department's Health Physics Master's Program aims to equip students with the ability to access, evaluate, and interpret information related to their field, and to teach them how to apply their existing knowledge in hospitals and medical centers.

Objectives

In Türkiye and the European Union, the Health Physics Program, a field of medical science with significant development potential, aims to contribute to science with a new perspective, new technological methods, and ethically sound applications.

Specific Admission Requirements

The Medical Physics Department's Health Physics Master's Program with Thesis is a competitive program within the framework of the "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Training Regulations". Applications are evaluated based on a combination of factors including ALES, YÖKDİL, YDS (or other foreign language proficiency scores), undergraduate GPA, written and interview scores, internship/research experience in health physics, letters of recommendation, and a statement explaining why the applicant wants to study the subject. While it is assumed that undergraduate education in Physics or Physics Engineering departments provides the best preparation for a Master's program with thesis in Health Physics, graduates with minors in nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or chemical engineering in Physics are also accepted into the program.

Qualification Awarded

The aim of the Health Physics program, a field of medical science with significant development potential in Turkey and the European Union, is to contribute to scientific innovation. Upon completion of the thesis-based Health Physics program, students must have earned at least 15 credits and 30 ECTS per semester, completed one non-credit seminar, finished at least 40 working days of internship, and spent one year on thesis work (60 ECTS), for a total of 120 ECTS.

Access to Further Studies

Students who successfully complete the Master's degree in Health Physics with thesis in the Department of Medical Physics can continue their studies in doctoral programs in their field or related fields, provided they obtain a valid score on the ALES exam and possess a sufficient level of English language proficiency.

Internship

The program also includes an internship program, where students complete at least 40 working days of internship in the Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, and Radiation Oncology departments of hospitals and medical centers, or at the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, in the field of health physics.

Applied Course

In Turkey and the European Union, the Health Physics Program within the Department of Medical Physics, a field with significant development within medical sciences, aims to bring new perspectives and innovations to science. Therefore, applied courses are offered in the Departments of Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, and Radiation Oncology.

Work Placement

The Medical Physics Department's Health Physics Program contributes to the development of medical sciences in Turkey and the European Union with a fresh perspective. Students learn about the devices used in hospitals and medical centers where they intern, their applications, and the methods applied to patients in the clinic within an ethical framework, gaining knowledge and experience.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

The aim is to contribute to scientific innovation in Health Physics, a field within medical sciences that is open to development, both in Türkiye and the European Union.

Employment Opportunities
