General Information
This program aims to teach the techniques of medical biology, molecular biology, molecular genetics and cytogenetics disciplines and to gain the necessary knowledge and skills for diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases. In this context, program gives the necessary knowledge and skills for making DNA isolation and current techniques based on PCR from all kinds of tissues. In addition, program allows the student to make cell and tissue culture to obtain and interpret chromosomes.
Length of Programme & Number of Credits
4 Year - 240 ECTS
Feature & Definition
Graduates of Medical Biology program should be able to know and explain the structure and functions of cells and organelles which constitute the basic structure of organisms, the functions of tissue and organ systems, the structure of genetic material, genetic diseases and genes that cause diseases, the structure of genes, the diseases that occur with the mutations in genes, the forms of inheritance, molecular and cytogenetic analysis and the numerical and structural anomalies of autosomal and sex chromosomes. Graduated students have the ability to manage all the processes from writing a scientific project to publication. Graduated students have the knowledge and ability to teach medical Biology and Genetics course contents in Medical Faculties.
