General Information
Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 1978 within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and started its undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral education in the years 1979, 1982 and 1984. Nearly 1200 undergraduate and 220 postgraduate students continue their education in our department. The medium of instruction in all courses is English for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As of December 2015, 11 professors, 4 asisstant professor and 15 research assistants have been working in our department. There exist a total of 6 sub-branches in Mechanical Engineering Department, namely Machine Theory and Dynamics, Construction and Manufacturing, Thermodynamics, Energy and Automotive. Each branch has its own laboratory facilities. Besides the scientific research, both educational and industry-oriented services are being provided in these laboratories.

Feature & Definition
During the four-year undergraduate education, students are subject to the program prepared according to the opinions of the industry needs. With the ERASMUS program, they have the chance to continue their education in Europe for one or two semesters. Students have the opportunity to turn their theoretical knowledge into practice in our laboratories.

Goals
The graduates of the B.S. program of the Mechanical Engineering Department, are sought for in jobs related to research, development, product design, and advanced technology; they become entrepreneurs, leaders, and pioneers in their professional careers, continue their career development through graduate studies and/or professional training, perform their jobs considering individual, social, and environmental aspects, while adhering to ethical values in their professional careers.
Objectives
In conformity with the mission of Mechanical Engineering Department, the objectives of Mechanical Engineering Program are to graduate professionals who can: Perform design and integration of mechanical and thermal processes, components and systems, Play leadership roles by improving collaboration between engineers, scientists and professionals, Involve positively in the competitiveness of design, manufacturing and research enterprises, Aim to reach knowledge and professional growth for their successful careers in industry, research or academia, Contribute to the society as professionally, ethically and globally aware members.
Specific Admission Requirements
Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor's degree of Mechanical Engineering.

Access to Further Studies
The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Total internship period is 60 working days. Students are able to do internship in all kinds of enterprises operating mechanical engineers.
