General Information
Soil Science and Plant Nutrition at BSc level is a programme which offers "Agricultural Engineer" title after 4 years of education generally in Agricultural Sciences and specifically in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. As a part of Agricultural Faculty, besides the lectures of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition Programme, the students must take lectures from the other programs of Agricultural Faculty, such as Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Machinary, Agricultural Structures and Irrigation, Animal Production, Field Crops, Horticulture, and Plant Protection as well as basic engineering lectures. Total ECTS of lectures in 8 semesters is 240 and in each semester is 30 ECTS. Moreover, all students must undergo a summer training at the end of 6th Semester and prepare and complete a Graduation Project in 7th and 8th semesters.

Feature & Definition
The Program targets the education of Agricultural Engineers meeting the expectations and needs of governmental and private sectors and the preparation of students having adequate academical skills to Master Programes. The Program aims to provide enough knowledge on classification of soils as well as usage of them based on ecological principles and conservation of them against environmental poliution and misuses, preparation of healthy and balanced plant nutrition programs suitable for our ecological system by carrying on soil fertility and plant nutritional studies, and sustainable utilization and management of soil, plant, and water resources. Moreover, increases in practical abilities of students are provided by using laboratories and greenhouses at Soil Science and Plant Nutrition Department and research fields at Agricultural Research and Application Farm and arranging daily field trips.

By using the scientific truths, educating agricultural scientists having knowledge in order to solve the soil-water-environment problems and to use soils in accordance with their characteristics and to improve soil fertility in order to increase plant productivity depending on the principles of sustainable production
Specific Admission Requirements
Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation
Students are required to be successful in all courses, practices and studies in the curriculum of the department or program they are enrolled in. A student who has completed at least 240 ECTS credits in 4-year faculties and colleges and has a GPA of at least 2.00 is deemed to have earned the right to graduate.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.
Internship
Totally 40 workdays in the laboratories of department and experimental field or other related institues.
Applied Course
Within the scope of accreditation, taking into account the opinions of internal and external stakeholders, it is taken into account that at least 25% of the courses are practical. In addition to this, there are also purely practical courses such as Professional Practice, Vocational Projecting and Design, Summer Internship.
Work Placement
There is no on-the-job training in our curriculum. However, in summer internships, they can do their summer internships in public institutions and organizations within the framework of the regulation.

Employment Opportunities
The graduates of program can work for the Ministery of Food, Agriculture, and Animal Husbandary, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, The Bank of Agriculture, State Water Affairs, Municipalities, Agro-Chemical Companies, Official and Private Laboratories for Soil, Plant and Fertilizer Analyses, Fertilizer Industry, Private Farms and Greenhouses as well as being a franchiser for seed and agro-chemicals. Moreover, the Agricultural Engineers authorized for the preparation of Soil Survey and Mapping, Soil Conservation and Land Use Projects which are obligatory according to the Act for Soil Conservation and Land Use numbered 5403 are the graduates of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition Program.
