General Information
Social Studies Teaching is a teaching undergraduate program that provides education for four years/eight semesters. It has a program of compulsory and elective courses covering many disciplines of social sciences. In the department, which has a course content ranging from archeology to philosophy, from history to geography, from law to political science, there are also theoretical and applied training courses that provide teaching formation. In addition to the effort to provide students with field knowledge and teaching formation within the four-year undergraduate program, it is also aimed to create a democratic citizen profile that respects human rights.

Feature & Definition
Social Studies Teaching Department aims to equip the teacher candidates with the skills and values about their field of study . In line with this goal the total of 240 ECTS of compulsory and elective courses are given in the program. Except the knowledge of their field of study, the students are expected to embrace scientific knowledge and know and use their rights of his country, be sensitive, democratic, secular and respectful to the revolutions of Atatürk, the founder of Turkish Republic and what is happening in the world.

Goals
Purpose of the Program; is to train teachers who are democratic, aware of their rights and responsibilities, who can assume the role of teacher leader, who have the knowledge of the field and the knowledge of teaching the field.
Objectives
The Goal of the Program; To train qualified teachers for the teaching staff that will carry Turkey forward in the world.
Specific Admission Requirements
Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.
Qualification Awarded
The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor´s degree of Social Studies Education.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation
In order to graduate from this program, it is necessary to have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and to be successful in all courses.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.
Internship
Teaching Practice I and Teaching Practice II courses are administered 6 hours a week in the 7th and 8th semesters. Practice schools are determined by the Provincial Directorate of National Education.
Applied Course
Community Service Practices course is applied for 2 hours a week in the 4th semester. Teaching Practice I and Teaching Practice II courses are administered 6 hours a week in the 7th and 8th semesters. Practice schools are determined by the Provincial Directorate of National Education.
Work Placement
There is no on-the-job training in this program.

Employment Opportunities
