Technical Sciences Vocational School was established in 2009 in Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB), one of Turkey's largest organized industrial zones, on an area of 1225 hectares, north of Yakapınar (Misis) on the Adana-Ceyhan D-400 Highway. Electronics and Automation Department started Electriicty Technician training in Electriicty Program in the 2010 - 2011 academic year. The Electriicty Program aims to train qualified technicians in the field of Electricity. In general, the content of the courses, which consist of basic and industrial electricity, are power generation, current-voltage relations, and industrial applications. The name of "Cukurova University Technical Sciences Vocational School" has been changed to "Adana Organized Industrial Region of Vocational School Technical Sciences'' as of 26.02.2018 with the rule and letter of the Council of Higher Education dated 26.02.2018 and numbered 15619. In July 2017, "Law Amending Certain Laws and Statutory Decrees for the Development of Industry and Support of Production" No. 7033 was regulated. Under the law, it was noticed that "For vocational schools established in organized industrial zones, educational support can be provided to relevant higher education institutions per student, from the appropriation allocated to the Council of Higher Education budget for this purpose. " Based on the published legislation, starting from the 2017 - 2018 Academic Year Spring Semester, the students of the Machinery, Electricity, Textile Technology and Electriicty Program in our Vocational School have earned the right to receive educational support. Formal education in the Electriicty and Energy Department of our Vocational School continues with Electric Program.

It is given theoretical and practical training in the electrical program. This allows students to strengthen both theoretical background and is intended to be knowledgeable about both applications . Fault finding , problem solving, decision making and process and function is aimed to train technicians have the ability to do the electrical planning

Goals

The purpose of the electricity program is to train graduates who will meet the need of qualified technical staff equipped with the knowledge and skills that businesses need to meet the needs of the global world. Within this scope, theoretical knowledge and practical applications are given to the students to educate the students according to the needs of the industry.

Objectives

To educate individuals who can interpret, evaluate, identify problems, implement professional plans and projects and develop solution propositions using basic knowledge and skills acquired in the field with sufficient background in matters related to scientific and mathematical and numerical and applied fields. To train individuals who can produce solutions to unforeseen problems encountered in applications related to electric field, take responsibility in working groups or have ability to work individually, communicate effectively and follow the innovations in the field. Programmable with intelligent relay systems that can perform basic analysis and design on electrical circuits, electrical facilities and automation systems, use electrical modules, can design electrical systems, design and simulation of control systems, To train individuals who are able to recognize and use controllers (PLCs), select suitable electric motors and motor drivers when driving mechanical systems, and produce solutions in special electrical fields. To educate individuals who are respectful of historical and social values, have social responsibility, universal, social and professional ethical consciousness, awareness of necessity of lifelong learning, follow the developments in science and technology and constantly renew themselves. To educate individuals who have job security, worker health and environmental protection knowledge and consciousness and follow up work done in the industry and service sector on site and have practical skills for their profession.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the Electricity Program with a central exam conducted by The Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Students are admitted to the department with the TYT score type, and a 2-year associate degree education is given in the department. For students to be placed in the Electricity Program, TYT exam scores must be calculated as a result of the Higher Education Institutions Exam. According to their success ranking, students whose TYT score has been calculated are placed in the program of their choice with the Central Placement made by OSYM.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

Students graduate from this program by completing 120 ECTS/ECTS credits. To graduate, students must complete all of the courses available in the program and obtain a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00. In addition, students must complete their 30-day professional internship and one-semester Workplace Training successfully. The students who meet the program requirements are awarded an associate degree in Electricity. Students can work in the Industry using the obtained diploma with the title of Electric Technician. When the student graduates, the courses showing the competencies gained during the education process are indicated in the diploma supplement.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have completed their Associate Degree education have the right to continue their education in the Faculties that provide undergraduate education if they succeed in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). In addition, if they pass the university entrance exams and are successful, they can move to a department in their field and be exempt from the courses they have taken.

Internship

The internship is an applied education that students practice in the relevant sector. In AOSB Vocational School of Technical Sciences programs, the internship is included in the course plan as an Industry based Education course. Internships are held on the dates announced by the School Directorate, and the internship duration cannot be less than 30 working days, depending on the program specification. Doing the internship during the summer break at the end of the first year is appropriate. Otherwise, the student may lose the rights for a semester or a year. The aims of the industry-based education studies of Electricity Program students are as follows: - To develop and consolidate the professional knowledge taught in the first and second-year courses through their practices during the internship. - To be well acquainted with the organization, order, and systems in the possible business areas in which they will work after starting the business life. - To recognize the authorities and responsibilities they will undertake as an Electric Technician in enterprises, to acquire harmonious working habits with the personnel in charge of upper and lower levels, and to be a good manager, at the same time to prepare a good employment environment for them.

Applied Course

Within the electricity program, there is an obligation to have at least 10 ECTS applied education in each semester. Apart from these, considering the workplace training and internship courses added due to the 3+1 education system, there are a total of 50 ECTS applied training courses.

Work Placement

Vocational school has started implementing the 3+1 workplace training program as of the 2018-2019 Spring semester. Within the scope of Workplace Training, students work in companies four days a week for one semester (15 weeks). The purpose of workplace training can be listed as follows: - To get to know the workplaces related to the associate degree program they are studying, to observe the hierarchical order, organizational structure, work discipline, occupational health, and safety rules. - To practice knowledge, skills, and competencies that students are gained during their education period, to have a chance to closely observe the sector employees, to increase their business experience, and get to inform about the work they will do in the future. - To gain the ability to use and apply the theoretical knowledge they have learned. - To enable them to develop a common language with workplace managers, employees, and other relevant individuals to increase their workplace communication skills. - To ensure that they are aware of the current technology trend related to their profession and to teach them to respect professional ethics.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

Electricity Program students can study for one or two semesters in other higher education institutions through the agreements and protocols made between other institutions abroad or in the country. These students are required to have succeeded in all previous educations. The equivalence of the students' courses, practice, internships, and similar activities in the program is determined in advance by the board of directors' decision regarding the advisor's recommendation and the relevant department chair/program advisor. Exchange Programs differ in terms of their purpose and functioning.

Employment Opportunities

The Electricity Program curriculum is primarily geared towards training qualified personnel for the Electricity sector. Professional qualifications and personal development training gained in the program provide vast opportunities in business life and career development. Graduates can work as technicians in the control and automation departments of factories operating in the public sector and Industry. They can do all kinds of electricity work according to the institution's structure and their field of expertise. Technicians can also open their private workplaces if they wish.
