Course Goal / Objective
Students gain the ability to make comparisons in terms of todays muslim societies based on the classical belief problems in the past Muslim communities.

1 Problems in understanding religion 2 Religious texts and relating problems: Muhkam - mutashabih 3 The nature, scope and means of knowledge 4 Issue of tawil and anthropomorphistic expressions about God (al-sifat al-khabariyya) 5 Problems concerning the belief in God 6 Dahriyya, ilhad, corporealism, anthropomorphism 7 Dualist teachings and the doctrine of trinity 8 Problems concerning prophethood 9 Deistic approaches and infallibility of the prophets 10 Nature and scope of revelation 11 Issue of distortion of previous sacred scriptures 12 The soul and related issues 13 Conflicts upon the phases of afterlife 14 Political conflict: Debates on imamah and khilafah
