Course Goal / Objective

To teach the graduate level subjects of Consolidation and triaxial strength that were not covered during undergraduate level courses.

Course Content

Introduction, history, consolidation, consolidation settlement, Over Consolidation Ratio (OCR), Preconsolidation stress, consolidation rate, Log-time method, Square-root-time method, consolidation coefficients, Coefficient of Volume Change (Mv), Compression Index (Cc), Coefficient of Consolidation (Cv), Coefficient of Compressibility (av), triaxial strength parameters, deviatoric stress, triaxial failure envelope, pore water pressure, effective stress
